Working on airtable.com

We slipped for “no-code database tool”. What happened?

You went from #4 to #9 over eleven days. Here's what happened, and only part of it is about you.

Your page didn't get worse. Same speed, same links, same content. You got passed.

Who passed you, and how. Look at the two titles right above where you used to be: "Compared, With Pricing" and "(Prices Included)". Both monday.com and smartsheet.com published comparison pages with pricing tables in the last two weeks. I read both pages. The only real difference between them and you is that they answer "what does each option cost," and yours is a feature list that doesn't mention price at all.

For this search, Google has decided people want a comparison with prices, and it's rewarding the pages that have one.

What it cost you. About 2,140 fewer impressions in the window. At your usual click-through rate that's roughly 90 visits, which matters more than it sounds: this query brings in your highest-intent visitors, people already shopping for a tool.

What I'd do. Build the comparison page they built, but better: the six competitors you actually lose deals to, what each one charges, and what each one does and doesn't do, from their own pricing pages. Not a page that says you're best at everything. A page that's genuinely useful to someone choosing.

Which six competitors?

The six that show up most often in the same searches as you, and in the Reddit threads where people are choosing:

ToolFromBest atWhere it falls short for a small team
monday.com$9/moProject boardsNot really a relational database
notion.so$8/moDocs with light tablesNo real relations between tables
clickup.com$7/moTask managementDatabase features feel bolted on
coda.io$10/moDocs with automationsSteep learning curve for non-technical teams
smartsheet.com$9/moFamiliar spreadsheet feelFeels like Excel, not a real database
baserow.ioFree / $5/moOpen source, self-hostableSmaller ecosystem and fewer templates

Every price is from their own pricing page, read today, so it'll be right on the day the page goes up. I'd put a note at the bottom saying when it was last checked. It's honest, and pages like this with a recent date tend to get picked over stale ones.

I'd also include one row you won't love: where each of them beats you. A comparison page that admits a weakness is the one people believe.

Ok, write it and put it in the repo.

Written, and pull request #12 is open on airtable/website, on its own branch.

What's in it:

  • A 1,400-word comparison page at /compare/no-code-database-tools, in your voice, from your own posts.
  • The pricing table above, with a "last checked" date.
  • An honest "where they beat us" section. baserow is better if you need to self-host and monday is better for pure project boards, and the page says so.
  • The title "No-Code Database Tools Compared, With Pricing (2026)", matching what Google is rewarding for this search.
  • A link from your homepage and your pricing page, so Google finds it fast and treats it as important.

Nothing goes live until you merge. Once it does, I'll check where it ranks every few days and tell you when it moves.
